| Art
| I have always dabbled in drawing and
painting.
I had art all through grade school and took it in high school
except for my senior year. They didn't have a class `that'
advanced for me to take (I took all the classes they offered and in
my junior year was the only one at my level and most always had an
`A') so, I ended up taking 1st year drafting. I didn't do too
badly in drafting as I finished up with a B or an A (I don't
remember which).
I have done some charcoal, pencil, colored pencil, water color
and a few oils, but I haven't done any in years.
This is my first oil painting on a 6x9 inch piece of canvas.
I haven't come up with a title for it yet, but if pressed,
I'll think of something!
The picture of "Dalph's Den" on the home page is in oil, on a
9x12 inch canvas. It was my 2nd oil painting. There is
about 8 years seperating my first two oils.

| Photography
| Another dabble was in photography.
I've attended some night classes, read books, was taught how to
develop negatives and how to print pictures when I was in the
service by Harry Hodges. Thanks Harry, where ever you are.
I even had all the equipment to set up my own dark room in
1979. It was never set up though as my second marriage ruined
any plans of doing that!
I've taken pictures all across the U.S., from Viet Nam to Germany
and haven't been published once! What do ya' mean ya' hav' to
submit em' before you can get em' published?! ...
(Pen and
ink, approx., 5x8)
I don't take as many pictures as I used to and still have rolls
of film from several years back that need to be developed!
Maybe once or twice a year I'll get out my ol' 35mm Cannon and snap
a few.
I rarely get out my old trusty 34mm SLR Cannon. I have switched
to digital photography. There are no rolls of film to buy or develop
just be sure to have enough disk space! |
| Boob Tube!
| I think that in some schools, today,
they teach classes on watching TV! Whatever...
I enjoy watching re-runs of Star Trek and from the new series,
Voyager, the X-Files (Skulley is a fox!), JAG (I like the action)
and watch a few other programs on the "tube". |
| Reading
| Something that kids arn't supposed to be
doing much of these days! There ARE exceptions and I do hope
that those exceptions grow in numbers.
Some of my favorite authors are: Robert A Heinlein (who I grew
up reading, enjoy re-reading and am happy that they are starting to
make movies out of his stories) RIP Ann McCaffrey and her Pern
series as well as her other books Piers Anthony Allen Dean
Foster, esp. the Flinx series Gordon R. Dickson and others...

| Pin Up Girls
| My Grandfather had his garage almost
totally covered with pin up girls, not fold outs, but drawings like
Vargus did. When I was a young child I would get caught by my
Grandmother, in the garage, looking at all the pictures.
She'd give me a whippin', would scold me and tell me NEVER to go in
there again. Even as a child I was obsessive and compulsive
and would continue to get whippings from her. She finally
made my Grandfather put a lock on the door to keep me out and went
so far as making him take the car out of the garage, and closing the
door before she would let me get close to the car. I still
had a tendency to `oogle' the pictures when he just pulled the car
out. That is why he had to close the door! I collect
them now on the computer and have a screen saver that cycles through
them. I still miss that garage!!! |
MORE will be
revealed...
